Frequently asked questions.

Where are your flowers grown?

Each stem we sell is grown by us at our home in Davenport, Iowa.
We start most of our flowers from seeds, tubers, and corms in late winter and transplant them outside when the weather is warm. Buying locally-grown bouquets insures that you’re receiving the freshest flowers, supporting your local economy, and you’re making a sustainable and environmentally-friendly choice!

When do you sell fresh flowers?

Currently we are constrained by the fact that we live in Zone 5b, with relatively cold winters and shorter growing seasons. While we long for the temperate climate of the Pacific Northwest, we have accepted the fact that we’ll only have fresh cut flowers mid May through the end of September, or if we’re lucky, for part of October.

We do everything we can to extend our offerings beyond our growing season and are adding new ideas and products each year! Come fall, look for products made with dried flowers, including bouquets and holiday ornaments.

Are your flowers organic?

Although we grow flowers, our first priority is raising soil. We know that the best flowers begin with the healthy soil. We’re committed to building a robust soil microbiome through natural and sustainable growing practices — always adding back to the earth more than we’re taking.

We use natural fertilizers, like compost and fish emulsion. To control bugs, we spray beneficial nematodes and use organza bags to protect our blooms. We hand-pick Japanese beetles off of our plants. We believe strongly in creating a safe haven for bees and other pollinators.

Being an organic farmer requires certification, paper work, inspections, and the like. As a small operation, we’re not able to handle the expense and time commitment to going through that process. But you can rest assured that we respect and care about offering you naturally-grown flowers.

Can I tour your growing space?

A fellow garden nerd? You’re our people! While we LOVE chatting and connecting with people just like you, we grow everything at our home. It’s not a public location and due to liability and privacy, our growing spaces are not open to the public. While you might pick up an order from us, we don’t offer a “you-pick” option or allow patrons in our growing area.

But if you run into us at the market, feel free to strike up a conversation — we’d love to chat with you!

Do you do weddings?

Ah the million dollar question! And not an easy one to answer for a small, boutique grower like us. We’ll start with the short, albeit vague, answer: possibly, depending on your vision, needs, date, budget, flexibility, etc.

As much as we love designing and creating unique arrangements, we only sell what we grow here in Davenport, IA. While florists have access to blooms shipped from warmer climates year-round, we are limited to working with fresh flowers during Iowa’s growing season, which is typically mid May through the end of September.

If your wedding is falls between June and September, and you are committed to having locally grown flowers at your wedding, then read on!

We seek to serve couples who are flexible in their design choices and value sustainability and quality over very specific colors and flowers. We’ll work with you to create wedding flowers that are both unique and personalized.

If your goal is to save money, you might want to check out a wholesaler or discount club’s offerings. We take pride in spending the necessary time and attention to detail to design, create, and deliver beautiful wedding flowers. Our wedding flower pricing reflects this.

To help you plan, we usually need 6-12 months notice for wedding work. If you’re interested, please email Alyssa.
